Judges revolt: Congress appeals to full court of the Supreme Court to decide, Judge Loya’s death must be considered by senior most judges

The Congress Party in its press release appealed to full court of the Supreme Court to decide on the issues raised by four senior-most judges in an unprecedented press conference.

Four senior-most judges of the Supreme Court i.e. Justice Jasti Chelameswar, Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Madan Bhimrao Lokur and Justice Kurian Joseph in an unprecedented press conference today stated that Chief Justice Dipak Misra failed to address the selective assignment of the cases by the Chief Justice and that there are serious threats to democracy because of the conduct of the Chief Justice.

The Congress further stated that “In the PIL concerning the death of Judge Loya’s death, the matter must be entrusted to the senior most judges of the Supreme Court who should ensure that under their supervision there is thorough and impartial investigation of the case by an independent SIT”.

On the selective assignment of the cases the Congress stated, “Cases that have far-reaching implications to society and governance must be heard in accordance with the established conventions, by the Senior most judges of the Supreme Court.
