J&K: Centre will not act against peoples’ sentiments on Article 35A, says Rajnath Singh

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today stated that the Centre will not take any step that would hurt the sentiments of the people of Jammu & Kashmir while reacting on Article 35A, local media reported.

Mr Singh further stated that there are no issues left that is why such issues are being raised.

Earlier on Sunday, both the ruling People’s Democratic Party and opposition National Conference told the union home minister about need for the special status granted under Article 35A. Currently, Article 35A is being challenged in the Supreme Court.

On the third of his visit to J&K, the union home minister said “The terrorists have destroyed many generations of Kashmiris. We will not allow another generation to go waste in Kashmir”.

While speaking about permanent solution to the Kashmir problem, Mr Singh said that his outreach formula is based on five Cs – Compassion, Communication, Coexistence, Confidence Building and Consistency, the union home ministry tweeted.

Mr Singh also appealed the people to visit the State to boost tourism. His office tweeted “Terrorism has adversely affected the tourism sector. I appeal everyone to come to Kashmir”.

“The Centre will run a special tourism drive for Kashmir to promote tourism in the state”, he added.

The union home minister is on a four-day visit to J&K.
