In Jammu & Kashmir, a CRPF man has succumbed to the injuries he sustained in an ongoing gunfight with the holed up terrorists in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar city.
The gunfight between the terrorists and security forces began after terrorists were traced in the area.
CRPF spokesman told reporters that at least two militants were traced in a building situated in the periphery of the 23 BN CRPF camp in Karan Nagar area near Government Medical College Srinagar.
Security sources informed that at least two terrorists, apparently suicide attackers, carrying backpacks and armed with AK 47 tried to enter the camp.
Their apparent attempt to storm the camp was repulsed after alert sentry at Camp gate opened fire at around 0430 hrs this morning, forcing them to flee.
CRPF spokesman said that after several hours of search operation, terrorists were traced and an exchange of gunfire started between the two sides.
He said the operation is in progress and exchange of fire is going on intermittently. More details are awaited.
