The Governor of Mizoram Lt Gen (retd) Nirbhay Sharma on Monday appointed seven Members of District Councils as Executive Members in the Bharatiya Janata Party-Congress alliance government in the Chakma Autonomous District Council in Lawngtlai district.
A notification issued on Monday by the District Council & Minority Affairs Department of Mizoram said the Governor is pleased to appoint Anil Kanti Chakma, Hirananda Tongchangya, Kusum Lota Chakma, Sanjeev Chakma, Mohan Chakma, Buban Kumar Chakma, and Onish Moy Chakma as Executive Members of the 10th Chakma Autonomous District Council on the recommendations of the Chief Executive Member w.e.f. 14.05.2018.
The EMs included from both the BJP and the Congress.
In a separate notification, the Governor also approved Buddha Lila Chakma, a Congress MDC, as the Chairman of the CADC.
The BJP created history by forming the first ever government in the CADC after stitching an alliance with its arch rival the Congress to keep the Mizo National Front out of power despite emerging as the single largest party in the elections held on 20 April.
Shanti Jivan Chakma of the BJP was sworn in as the Chief Executive Member of CADC on 4 May.
