Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to the victims of Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919, saying that they will always be remembered for their sacrifice.
In a tweet, PM Modi said “The indomitable spirit of the martyrs will always be remembered. They sacrificed their lives for our freedom.”

On 13 April 1919, the troops of the British Indian Army under the command of Reginald Dyer opened fire into a crowd that had gathered in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab. The British Government data said that 379 were killed and 1,200 injured. However, the number of dead is estimated to be more than 1,000.
