Tripura Police claimed to have resolved the kidnapping of four Gramin Bank employees on 24 November. Tanumoy Bhattacharjee (Taidu branch manager of the Gramin Bank), Sujit Dey (assistant manager), Raktim Bhowmik (Cashier) and Subrata Debbarma (DRW staff) were kidnapped when they were returning home.
The family members claimed that they had paid Rs 50 lakhs ransom.
The Tripura Police have since then arrested nine accused namely Rakesh Debbarma, Jyan Debbarma of Taidu, Sachindra Debbarma, Karna Debbarma, Surendra Debbarma, Sanjit Debbarma, Abhiram Debbarma, Kanoon Mohan Malsum, and Ranjit Debbarma. The detainees are surrendered insurgents.
The Tripura Police also claimed to have recovered Rs 48.79 lakhs from the accused.
Police claimed that Rakesh Debbarma of Belbari under Shidai area and Jyan Debbarma of Tui-chakma area under Taidu police station are the masterminds.
