Two minor boys have died by drowning in flood waters in Mizoram’s western districts on Wednesday.
A 14-year-old boy identified as Karuna Moy Chakma, son of Lobindra Chakma was killed in the flood at Hnahva village in Mamit district. His body was recovered by the villagers on Thursday morning.
In Lunglei district’s Marpara South village, some 15 kms from Hnahva, another young boy identified as Ajit Chakma, S/o Sneha Kumar Chakma (pictured above) drowned in flood waters on Wednesday and his body was recovered Thursday morning at 7:35 am.
There has been no report of any other human casualty from other parts of the state even as flood and landslide have wrecked havoc in the many parts of the state. More than 500 families have been affected by floods and landslides in four districts. More than 1,000 people were evacuated to safer places in two of the worst affected districts – Lunglei and Aizawl, The Hindu reported. Many families have been displaced by floods in Mamit district too.
Last year, three children of a family were buried to death at Dampuipara hamlet under Marpara South Village Council in Lunglei district while several others were injured on the midnight of 12th June 2017.
