At least 40 armed insurgents were killed during Afghan Security Forces’ operations in the past 24 hours in different parts of the country, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement on Wednesday.
Mullah Naeem a Taliban commander in Zabul province was also killed during the operations, the defence ministry stated.
Quoting Defence ministry sources, TOLO news reported 35 other insurgents were wounded, and nine of them were arrested.
The operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Kapisa, Ghazni, Logar, Khost, Uruzgan, Zabul, Farah, Faryab, Kunduz and Helmand provinces, the MoD statement said.
According to the defence ministry, the security forces have conducted 16 clearing operations, 64 special flights, 111 supportive flights and 11 air operations in different parts of the country in the past 24 hours.
No details were given about possible casualties among security forces.
